With Manny Gamburyan injured, Chad Mendes off the UFC 157 card

Chad Mendes was scheduled to take on Manny Gamburyan next week at UFC 157, but Gamburyan has pulled out of the fight with an injury and Mendes has announced on Twitter that he is no longer on the fight card. UFC 157 #2

“Well guys it looks like I’m off the Anaheim card,” Mendes tweeted. “Sucks pretty bad. I’ll keep everyone updated with what I find out. Sorry. Manny was injured and no one would step up.”

Mendes (13-1) was hoping that Ricardo Lamas would step in on short notice, but Lamas tweeted that he has been booked for a fight in May and the UFC will be announcing the fight soon.

With Mendes off the card, the bout that is expected to move to the main card on pay-per-view is a  heavyweight bout as Brendan Schaub takes on Lavar Johnson. Schaub and Johnson were scheduled to be the headlined of the preliminary card on FX and the new headliner for the preliminary card is expected to be TUF 15 winner Michael Chiesa meeting Anton Kuivanen.
