A pair of featherweight bouts has been added to UFC 162 on July 6th in Las Vegas as Frankie Edgar meets Charlies Olivera and Cub Swanson will take on Dennis Siver.
UFC officials announced the fight bookings on Thursday night and both fights could take place on the main card broadcast on pay-per-view.
Edgar (15-4-1) is the former UFC lightweight champion and is currently on a three fight losing streak. He recently dropped down to the featherweight division and was defeated by featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 156 earlier this year.
Oliveira (16-3-, 1NC) was signed by the UFC in 2010 and entered the organization as a lightweight. He dropped down to featherweight at the beginning of 2012 and won his first two fights in the decision. He will enter this fight coming off a defeat as he was defeated by Swanson at UFC 152 by knockout.
Swanson (19-5) lost his UFC debut in 2011 when he entered the organization via the merger with the WEC. Since then, he has won four in a row which includes a decision win over Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC on FUEL TV 7.
Siver (21-8) originally entered the UFC in 2007 and dropped down to the featherweight division last year. Since moving down to the division, he has won back to back fights with the wins coming against Diego Nunes and Nam Phan.
UFC 162 takes place on July 6th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by Anderson Silva defending the UFC middleweight title against Chris Weidman.
