Renan Barao out of UFC 161 with an injury

Renan Barao was scheduled to defend the interim UFC bantamweight title against Eddie Wineland in the main event of next month’s UFC 161, but an injury has forced him out of the fight card.UFC 161

UFC officials made an announcement on Tuesday afternoon after the news was reported by MMAJunkie.com.

Barao (30-1) has torn ligaments in his foot and a timetable for his return his unknown at this time.  This would have been his second interim title defense as he defeated Michael McDonald earlier this year at UFC on FUEL TV 7.

UFC 161 will be taking place on June 15th from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg and the UFC is expected to announce a new main event short along with whether Wineland will stay on the card.
