This weekends UFC 160 FX Prelim show’s ratings are in and they were down roughly slightly from UFC 159’s a few weeks ago.
According to Nielsen sources, the UFC 160 preliminary card landed at 1.3 million viewers. UFC 156 still remains as the top getter with 1.897 million total back a few months ago.
Not exactly a breathtaking number for the UFC, but the UFC also went up against the NHL playoffs and the NBA Playoffs.
Starting with the NHL playoffs, they offered up two original six match ups including a game 7 between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers and a matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. The two games overlapped during the UFC 160 preliminary card and garnered a combined rating of 3.3 million viewers during the two-hour period.
A key takeaway from the NHL Playoff games was that during the timeframe the NHL was the top 18-49 adult demographic cable draw, which besides the obvious male demographic, is still a big focus for the UFC.
The NBA on the other hand offered up game three of the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzles series. The game drew roughly 4.9 million viewers for ESPN, but it should be noted that this was down tremendously from last years Miami Heat and Boston Celtics series that landed around the same timeframe.
Anyway, all in all not a terrible night for the UFC on FX and with all the competition in its way I honestly thought the number woud be lower than 1.3 million viewers.
