The signed was initialled reported by a Brazilian outlet and Bellator confirmed the signing to TheMMAReport.com today.

Nunes (18-4) was released by the UFC following his defeat at UFC on FX 7 against Nik Lentz. While in the WEC/UFC, he went 5-4 and all of his fights went to the decision.

His last win came in the UFC at UFC on FX 5 last October when he defeated Bart Palaszewski by unanimous decision. He was awarded the fight of the night bonus and it was the only time he won a fight night bonus in the WEC/UFC.

He will join a crowded featherweight division in Bellator and it is not clear if Bellator will immediately place him into a tournament. The next featherweight tournament will take place this fall during season nine and potential fighters in that tournament could be Patricio Pitbull, Shahbulat Shamhalaev, Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra and Rad Martinez.
