Antonio Brago Neto entered the UFC as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and he showed his level of jiu-jitsu in his UFC debut as he defeated Anthony Smith by submission in the first round.
Neto came out as the aggressor as the fight opened and the BJJ world champion began to look for a takedown. Smith was able to stop the first takedown attempt and keep the fight on the feet.
After an exchange of strikes, Neto was able to get the fight to the ground and was able to get the back of Smith. He transitioned to the half guard position and Smith attempted to escape and Neto went to attack on his leg. He went for a heel hook at first and then moved to a knee bar submission which to Smith tapping out to the hold.
Neto (9-1, 1NC) has now won four in a row and all of those victories have come by submission in either the first or second round.
