It was announced on Thursday by Bellator that the promotion had decided to part ways with Paul “Semtex” Daley and gave the fighter his unconditional release.
Daley (33-12-2) was signed by Bellator last year and only competed in the promotion once which was at Bellator 72 last summer.
Bellator was planning to place him into the season eight welterweight tournament, but legal issues in the United Kingdom did not allow for this to take place.
After hearing about his release from Bellator, Daley issued a statement on his Facebook page and explained to his fans why he was released from Bellator.
Yes, i have been released by Bellator, due to visa issues resulting from previous offences. Although my application for a new visa WAS NOT DENIED, i am assuming the Bellator legal team thought it would not be possible for me to obtain one, in light of recent events.
I apologies to all the fans/supporters, that wanted me to win the Bellator tournament and challenge the boring Ben Arsken for the title….this is not gonna happen now, but we have Martin Stapleton and Rob Cfour Sinclair in Bellator, representing the UK, both im sure will do a great job.
I am currently in talks with a number of organisations, and have about half a dozen contracts already in my inbox……..but i will take my time, and read through them all. The whole situation has been difficult, but my release now alllows easier negotiation with different organisations.
I will be fighting real soon, September. Any media want more information, please inbox me directly.
Thank you.
Daley is currently on a four fight winning streak and is coming off a first round TKO victory over Lukasz Chlewicki at Cage Warriors 57 last Saturday in Liverpool, England. If he is able to obtain a visa and travel to the United States, there will likely be several organizations that would be interested in bringing him into their promotion.
