Rick Hawn used his striking to score a decision victory over Herman Terrado on Friday night at Bellator 100 to advance to the welterweight tournament semifinals.
The opening round would be on the feet for the entire round with Terrado having an advantage in total strikes landed. At the beginning of the round, Terrado was looking to counter strike and Hawn clinched with him against the fence. Hawn would not be able to get the fight to the ground and they had a brief exchange of brawling type punches during the round.
They continued to have their striking battle in the second round with Hawn having control of the cage and Terrado backing up throughout the round. They would land nearly the same amount of strikes in the round and Hawn scored a takedown at the end of the round.
The final round would be a carbon copy of the first two round as they round stay on the feet and exchange strikes. Hawn would continue to land more strikes and have control of the cage. The fight would end up going the distance and all three judges scored the fight for Hawn.
Hawn (16-2) advances to the welterweight tournament semifinals and he will meet Brent Weedman.
