Chael Sonnen wanted to be in the co-main event of UFC 167 and he got his wish on Wednesday as it was announced he will meet former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans on the November 16th card.
The bout was announced during the UFC Fight Night 28 pre-fight show on Fox Sports 1.
UFC 167 will take place on November 16th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre defending the UFC welterweight title against Johny Hendricks.
Sonnen (29-13-1) recently defeated former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston last month and the victory snapped a two fight losing streak. This will be his third straight fight at light heavyweight since moving up to the weight class after losing to Anderson Silva at UFC 148 last year.
Evans (18-3-1) also snapped a two fight losing streak earlier this year when he defeated Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 161. It was his first win since the beginning of 2012 and it was his second straight victory by decision.
Tickets for UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks are currently on sale and more fights are expected to be announced by the UFC in the near future.
