Josh Burkman meets Steve Carl for inaugural WSOF welterweight title at WSOF 6 in Florida

The World Series of Fighting will head to Florida for the first time on October 26th as Josh Burkman will meet Steve Carl for the inaugural welterweight title in the main event of WSOF 6.WSOF #2

WSOF officials announced on Wednesday that WSOF 6 will take place from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida and the event will air on the NBC Sports Network.

Along with the main event being announced, the organization also announced that Marlon Moraes will meet Carson Beebe in the co-main event and undefeated lightweight Justin Gaethje faces Dan Lauzon.

Tickets for WSOF 6: Burkman vs. Carl go on sale this Friday and tickets will be available at all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com and charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000.

Burkman (26-9) has won his last five fights including three of those coming in WSOF. He most recently defeated former UFC title contender Jon Fitch at WSOF 3 by technical submission in the first round. It was his second straight victory in the first round with both fights lasting less than four minutes combined.

Carl (20-3) is currently on a six fight winning streak with all of those wins coming in the first round by submission. His last four wins have come by rear-naked choke submission and the longest fight lasted just over two minutes.

“We’ve been looking forward to making our debut in Florida for some time now, and I’m proud to say we will be in Coral Gables on Oct. 26,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. “Our headliner will see us award either Josh Burkman or Steve Carl the first championship belt in our promotion’s history, and I think that matchup will be something special. The whole lineup we’re planning will be fantastic, and I look forward to making more announcements very soon.”
