The fourth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 18: Rousey vs Tate took place last night on Fox Sports 1 to increased Nielsen ratings.
According to Nielsen sources, the preliminary overnight rating for episode 4 landed at 778k. Last night’s episode saw a 20% bump from last weeks show, which landed at 639k total viewers.
When it came to the nights competition, the UFC was not only up against its usual cable competitors, but a ton of premiering national content.
For starters, on cable, Comedy Central dropped a mini-marathon of Southpark with a new episode at the end, which won the night in its highest debut since 2010. Duck Dynasty rolled in with a strong repeat at over 3.1 million viewers and The Bridge over on FX pulled a respectable 1.3 million viewers.
Right now is also a bad time as the national networks have just started to premier its new shows and new episodes of old favorites. For example, both CSI and Nashville premiered to huge ratings of 9.1 million viewers and 6.50 million viewers. Clearly, very tough numbers to go up against.
Side note, last weeks episode of UFC Tonight only mustered 133k viewers, meanwhile UFC unleashed has been doing a little bit better roaming between 100k-250k viewers per week depending on the airing.
