The opening fight of the UFC 166 pay-per-view was a flyweight bout as John Dodson scored the third fastest knockout in UFC flyweight history as he defeated Darrell Montague.
Dodson was able to control the fight from the opening round as he rocked Montague early in the fight and nearly scored a victory in the opening half of the round. Montague would be able to survive by scrambling on the ground.
However, it would only delay the knockout victory as Dodson landed a left hand that dropped Montague face first and the referee quickly came in to stop the fight.
Dodson (15-6) has won four of his five fights in the UFC and three of those wins have come by knockout.
