The UFC Fight Night 29 bonuses went to Dong Hyun Kim, Raphael Assunacao and TJ Dillashaw with each fighter receiving a bonus of $50,000.
UFC officials announced the bonuses following the fight card. The organization awarded the knockout of the night to Kim and the fight of the night went to Assunacao and Dillashaw.
However, the organization did not hand out a submission of the night bonus after the only submission victory did come with controversy.
Rouismar Palhares submitted Mike Pierce in 31 seconds on the main card of UFC Fight Night 29 but he held hold for several seconds after Pierce tapped out.
The UFC decided to deny him a bonus due to an “unsportsman like conduct.” At the post fight press conference, the UFC stated the decision to deny him the bonus at this time was due to the Brazilian commission starting an investigation into the end of the fight.
This is not the first time that Palhares has held onto a submission after his opponent tapped out. Back at UFC 111, he submitted Tomasz Drwal with a heel hook but held onto the submission after Drwal tapped. The UFC ended up suspending him 90 days and he could face another penalty from the UFC.
