Rousimar Palhares dropped down to the welterweight division on Wednesday night at UFC Fight Night 29 and only needed 31 seconds to defeat Mike Pierce by submission.
The fight opened with a high pace with Pierce pushing the pace. Pierce attempted a takedown and Palhares immediately went to work on a leg lock.
Pierce was able to defend the first submission attempt but Pierce would not be able to stop the second attempt as Palhares won the fight with an ankle lock.
The victory for Palhares (15-5) snaps a two fight losing streak and it’s his first win since 2012.
