Following Jimi Manuwa’s win at UFC Fight Night 30, UFC President Dana White said he wanted to get Manuwa a big fight, and that is what the organization has done.
Manuwa replaces an injured Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the main event of the March card in London, and will meet Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Tuesday and the two light heavyweights will headlined the card coming from the O2 Arena on March 8th.
Manuwa (14-0) entered the UFC last year and has won his first three fights in the organization. All three of his wins have come by TKO, with two of those wins coming due to injury. His most recently victory came two weeks ago as he defeated Ryan Jimmo in the second rounf.
Gustafsson (15-2) is coming off a close decision defeat against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. A victory against Manuwa will secure him another crack at the title and potentially another fight against Jones if he gets by Glover Teixeira in his next title defense.
Along with the light heavyweight bout, the UFC is planning to have a rematch between Ross Pearson and Melvin Guillard to take place on this card.
