The World Series of Fighting has added two more fighters to their roster as heavyweight Scott Barrett and welterweight Valdir Araujo have signed exclusive, multi-fight deals with the organization.
World Series of Fighting officials announced the signings on Tuesday and both fighters will make their debut with the promotion in 2014.
“It’s always exciting to ink deals with exciting fighters, and today is no exception,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. “Both of these fighters have a history of putting on incredible performances, and I can’t wait to see what they can accomplish in our promotion.”
Barrett (13-3) is a member of the Blackzilian team in South Florida and has won three of his last four fights. Ten of his wins as a professional have come by knockout and nine of those wins have come in the first round. He is a former Bellator fighter, as he went 1-1 in that organization and does hold a TKO victory over former UFC fighter Mike Wessel.
“Signing with the WSOF means the world to me,” Barrett said. “Fighting for one of the biggest organizations out there is every fighters goal. Now it’s time to show everyone who I am and what I can do! Being part of the Blackzilians has made me a different and more dangerous fighter. I can’t wait to put it all together and get in the cage. I’m here to put on a show and get finishes!”
Araujo (14-4) is also a Florida based fighter and most recently competed at CFA 12 in South Florida and defeated Romario Manoel da Silva by second round submission. He is currently on a three fight winning streak and has won fix of his last seven fights.
“World Series of Fighting has got a lot of excitement surrounding their welterweight division right now,” said the newly signed Araujo. “I’m honored to be a part of that excitement and show the world that I’m a warrior and champion in this sport.”
