Herb Dean booked as the referee for UFC 170 main event

UFC 170 will take place in two weeks in Las Vegas and the Nevada State Athletic Commission has named Herb Dean as the referee for the main event title fight between Ronda Rousey and Sara McMann. UFC 170 Poster

Dean was approved as the referee for the title fight at the NSAC meeting on Friday and along with naming Dean as the referee, the commission named Junichiro Kamijo, Chris Lee, and Glenn Trowbridge as the judges for the main event.

This will be the second straight UFC event in Las Vegas that Dean has been assigned as the referee for the main event as he was the referee in the UFC 168 main event title fight between Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva.

Dean was the referee of last week’s UFC 169 main event title fight between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber in New Jersey. He stopped the fight in the first round and UFC President Dana White said at the post fight press conference that Dean made a mistake by calling the fight when he did.
