A flyweight bout between top ten fighters has been added to the UFC 172 fight card on April 26th as former title challenger Joseph Benavidez meets Tim Elliott.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Monday after the bout had been speculated over the past couple of days.
UFC 172 will take place from the Baltimore Arena on April 26th and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.
Benavidez (19-4) will be stepping into the cage for the first time since being defeated by flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC on FOX 9. The victory snapped a three fight winning streak and both of his defeats in the UFC have come against Johnson.
Elliott (10-4-1) entered the UFC in 2012 and just like Benavidez, he will enter this fight after a defeat. He was defeated by Ali Bagautinov at UFC 167 and the defeat snapped a two fight winning streak.
