Lucas Martins injured, Aljamain Sterling now meets fellow UFC newcomer Cody Gibson

An undisclosed injury has forced Lucas Martins to pull out of his UFC 170 bantamweight bout against Aljamain Sterling and replacing Martins will be Cody Gibson. UFC 170 Poster

The injury suffered by Martins was announced by the UFC on Tuesday evening and the new fight will be place on the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1.

UFC 170 will come from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 22nd and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Sara McMann.

Gibson (11-3) has win his last six fights, including a win over Darin Cooley at WAR MMA 1 last year. During his recent winning streak, three of the wins have come by submission and two of them have been by guillotine choke in the first round.

Sterling (8-0) is a member of the Serra-Longo Fight Team and four of his victories have come by submission. His last five fights have come in CageFury Fighting Championships and his last three wins have come by rear-naked choke submission.
