The UFC 169 Preliminary Card on Fox Sports 1 was featured by Alan Patrick improving to 2-0 in the UFC as he won a controversial decision over John Makdessi.
According to Fox Sports Director of Digital Production Carleton Curtis, the UFC 169 preliminary overnight rating for the preliminary card landed at 933,000 total viewers.
The prelims on Saturday are the fourth most watched UFC preliminary card on the cable sports network and is the thirteenth most watched program on the network since the launch in August. On the night, the UFC prelims were the 91th most watched cable show and had a .5 rating in the adult 18-49 year old demographic.
The previous preliminary card of UFC 168 on Fox Sports 1 scored 1,554,000 total viewers, so UFC 169 prelims saw a 39.9% decrease in viewership. This event now brings the average PPV prelim on Fox Sports 1 to 967,000 viewers and when the UFC was on FX, the average was 1.2 million viewers.
When it came to the competition on network television, the Best of Jimmy Fallon on NBC won the night with 3.86 million viewers and coming in second was the NFL Honors on Fox, which drew 3.15 million viewers. Both programs ran from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET and were direct competition for the UFC prelims on Fox Sports 1.
On the cable side, the night was won by the college basketball game between Duke and Syracuse on ESPN. The game ran from 6:30 p.m. ET – 8:30 p.m. ET and had 4.7 million viewers. Along with having the number one cable show on Saturday night, ESPN had the number 4 show as the NBA game between Oklahoma City and New York drew 2.6 million viewers.
