Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will return in May and he will meet Stipe Miocic in the co-main event of UFC 173.
The fight booking was reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal on Monday evening and the bout was later confirmed by the UFC.
UFC 173 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 24th and will be headlined by Chris Weidman defending the UFC middleweight title against Lyoto Machida.
Dos Santos (16-3) has been defeated in two of his last three fights and both of those defeats have come against current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. This will be his first fight since losing to Velasquez at UFC 166 in October and will be looking for his first win since May of last year when he defeated Mark Hunt.
Miocic (11-1) has won back to back fights and five of his six fights in the UFC. He is coming off a decision victory over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC on FOX 10 in January, and his last two wins have come by decision.
