A women’s bantamweight bout has been added to UFC 176 on August 2nd in Los Angeles as Bethe Correia has been granted her wish by the UFC as she will meet Shanya Baszler.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Monday.
UFC 176 will come from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 2nd and will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against Chad Mendes.
Correia (8-0) made her debut in the UFC late last year and defeated Julie Kedzie by decision at UFC Fight Night 33. She returned two weeks ago at UFC 172 and defeated Baszler’s teammate Jessamyn Duke by unanimous decision.
Baszler (15-8) was a member of Team Rousey during The Ultimate Fighter 18 and this will be her official UFC debut. She was previously scheduled to make her debut last month, but an injury forced her to pull out of her fight against Sarah Kaufmann at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale.
The current UFC 176: Aldo vs. Mendes II fight card is below.
Jose Aldo (24-1) vs. Chad Mendes (16-1)
Bethe Correia (8-0) vs. Shanya Baszler (15-8)
