The medical suspensions for UFC 173 have been released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and eight fighters on the card are facing potential suspensions of six months.
The commission released the medical suspensions on Wednesday and the suspensions were forwarded to TheMMAReport.com after they were requested.
UFC 173 took place this past Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and was headlined by T.J. Dillashaw pulling off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history as he defeated Renan Barao to win the UFC bantamweight title.
The fighters facing potential suspensions of six months are Jake Ellenberger, Francisco Rivera, Jamie Varner, Michael Chiesa, Mitch Clarke, Al Iaquinta, Vinc Pichel, Anthony Njokuani, and Sam Sicilia. All eight fighters will need to get doctors clearance to come off suspension or they are suspended six months.
The complete UFC 170 medical suspensions are below:
- TJ Dillashaw: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14 (right eyebrow laceration)
- Renan Barao: Suspended until 07/09/14 and no contact until 06/24/14
- Dan Henderson: Suspended until 07/09/14 and no contact until 06/24/14 (lacerations on bridge of nose, left eyebrow and left ear)
- Jake Ellenberger: Must have left inferior wall blowout fracture cleared by an ophthalmologist or no contest until 11/21/14; minimum no contest until 07/09/14 and no contact until 06/24/14
- Takeya Mizugaki: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14 (cuts over both eyes)
- Francisco Rivera: Must have right hand cleared by orthopedic Dr or no contest until 11/21/14
- Jamie Varner: Must have broken left leg cleared by orthopedic Dr or no contest until 11/21/14
- Michael Chiesa: Must have left elbow x-rayed, if positive then must have orthopedic Dr clearance or no contest until 11/21/14
- Francisco Trinaldo: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14 (left cheek laceration)
- Katsunori Kikuno: Suspended until 07/09/14 and no contact until 06/24/14 (TKO and laceration on bridge of nose)
- Mitch Clarke: Must have right elbow cleared by Dr or no contest until 11/21/14
- Al Iaquinta: Must have a MRI of right knee if positive then needs orthopedic Dr clearance or no contest until 11/21/14; minimum suspension no contest until 06/24/14, no contact until 06/15/14
- Vinc Pichel: Must have left eye blow out fracture cleared by an ophthalmologist or no contest until 11/21/14
- Anthony Njokuani: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14 (possible corneal abrasion on left eye)
- Sam Sicilia: Must have right hand x-rayed if positive then needs orthopedic Dr clearance or no contest until 11/21/14
- Jingliang Li: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14 (left eyebrow laceration)
- David Michaud: Suspended until 06/24/14 and no contact until 06/15/14
