Chad Mendes will get the rematch he has been looking for on August 2nd at UFC 176 as he challenges Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title.
The two featherweights initially met each other at UFC 142 in the beginning of 2012 and Aldo won by knockout with one second left in the opening round.
Since the first meeting, Mendes (16-1) has won five straight and four of those victories came by TKO/KO. His most recent victory came in December as he defeated Nik Lentz by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 9.
Mendes was a guest on last night’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on Fox Sports 1 to discuss his upcoming rematch with Aldo. During the interview, Mendes confirmed that Duane Ludwig would be in his corner in his upcoming fight and he sees this fight as his time to prove he is the best featherweight fighter in the world.
