A welterweight bout has been added to September’s UFC 178 in Las Vegas as Patrick Cote will meet Stephen Thompson.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on late Sunday evening.
UFC 178 will take place in Las Vegas on September 27th and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson.
Cote (20-8) has won three in a row and two of those wins have come in the welterweight division. Both of his wins in the 170 pound division have come by decision and his most recent win came in April as he defeated Kyle Noke at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale.
Thompson (9-1) is also on a three fight winning streak and his last two wins have come by TKO/KO. In his last appearance, he won a performance of the night bonus at UFC 170 as he defeated Robert Whittaker by TKO in the first round.
