Bellator 123 Medical Suspensions: Lavar Johnson suspended sixty days

Bellator 123 took place this past Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and Lavar Johnson was one of two fighters that competed on the main card to receive a medical suspension. B123WI

Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulations Executive Director Mike Mazzulli confirmed the medical suspensions to TheMMAReport.com after they were requested.

In addition, Tom Cantone of the Mohegan Sun confirmed to TheMMAReport.com today that the attendance for the show as 7109 and Friday night’s show had a higher attendance than February’s Bellator 110, which also took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Bellator 123 was headlined by Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defeating Pat Curran by decision to win the featherweight title. The main card on Spike TV also saw stoppage victories by Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, Bobby Lashley, Tamdam McCrory, and Cheick Kongo.

Johnson received a sixty day suspension from the commission and will need orthopedic clearance to come off suspension. Following the fight card on Friday, Johnson tweeted that he had a broken thumb and tweeted a picture of his x-ray. The only other fighter on the main card to receive a suspension was heavyweight Josh Burns, who has been given a thirty day suspension.

  • Josh Burns: Suspended 30 days
  • Dan Cramer: Suspended 90 days and will need orthopedic clearance (broken right hand)
  • Mike Wessel: Suspended 90 days (concussion)
