UFC 179 will take place next month in Brazil and the UFC has announced three new fights for the card with the bouts being Fabio Maldonado vs. Hans Stringer, Neil Magny vs. William Macario, and Fabricio Camoes vs. Josh Shockley.
All three of these fight bookings were announced by the UFC today.
UFC 179 will come from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 25th and will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against Chad Mendes.
Maldonado (21-7) returns to the light heavyweight division for his fight after stepping up earlier this year to face Stipe Miocic in a heavyweight bout. He would be defeated in 35 seconds by Miocic and it snapped a three fight winning streak. Stringer (22-5-3) made his debut with the UFC and defeated Francimar Barroso and he is unbeaten in his last seven fights. Seventeen of his wins have come by stoppage and nine of those are by TKO/KO.
Magny (12-3) is currently on a four fight winning streak and all of those wins have come this year. This will be his fifth fight of the year and he is coming off a decision win against Alex Garcia at UFC Fight Night 49. Macario (7-1) was a finalist during The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2 and he scored his first UFC victory in December of last year when he defeated Booby Voelker. Five of his wins have come by TKO/KO and four of those wins have come in the first round.
Camoes (14-8-1) has dropped back to back fights and his last victory came at the beginning of 2012 against Tommy Hayden. His most recent defeat came at the end of last year as he was submitted by Jim Miller at UFC 168. Shockley (11-3) signed with the UFC earlier this year and he lost his debut to Jason Saggo at UFC 174 by TKO in the first round. It was his first defeat in over two years and it was the first time he lost by knockout.
