Josh Burkman signs with the UFC, meets Hector Lombard at UFC 182

One month ago, the World Series of Fighting announced that Josh Burkman had signed a contract extension with the promotion and on Friday, UFC President Dana White announced that Burkman is now a UFC fighter.

White announced the signing on Twitter late this afternoon and announced shortly after that Burkman will meet Hector Lombard at UFC 182 on January 3rd in Las Vegas.

UFC 182 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on January 3rd and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier.

Burkman (27-10) has won nine of eleven since exiting the UFC in 2008. His last five fights have come in the World Series of Fighting and went 4-1 in the promotion. His most recent fight came in March against Tyler Stinson and won by knockout in the first round.

Lombard (34-4-1, 1NC) has won back to back fights since dropping down to the welterweight division last year. His is coming off a decision win at UFC 171 in March against Jake Shields and he was scheduled to return last month at UFC Fight Night 48, but an injury forced him off the card.
