One of the most anticipated UFC fights in 2015 now has a date as Jose Aldo will defend the featherweight title against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas.
The fight was made official by the UFC on Friday afternoon and the fight card will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Aldo (25-1) will be making his eighth UFC featherweight title defense against McGregor and he is coming off a decision win against Chad Mendes at UFC 179. He has won three of his last four fights by decision and his last stoppage win came in 2013 against Chan Sung Jung.
McGregor (17-2) is coming off a TKO win against Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night 59 and four of his five wins in the UFC have come by TKO. He has won a fight night bonus in all of those TKO wins and three of his UFC wins have come in the first round.
