The UFC held a press conference today in Las Vegas to announce that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) will be overseeing the new drug testing policy they announced earlier this year.
Along with working with the USADA, the UFC also announced they have partnered with Fusionetics, and EXOS.
“Earlier this year, we vowed to take a leadership position on key areas impacting our sport, fighter health and fighter safety,” UFC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lorenzo Fertitta said. “After months of hard work, and the addition of Jeff Novitzky, we have taken the opportunity to not only launch an elite anti-doping policy, but to invest, develop and deploy a year-round Athlete Marketing and Development program focused on the preparation, performance and education of our athletes.”
The UFC drug testing program will begin on July 1st and during today’s press conference, USADA officials stated that a minimum of 2700 drug test will be administered over a twelve month period. There will be in and out of competition testing and in competition testing is defined as six hours before and after a fighter competes.
