  1. Since Scott Coker has taken over he’s signed Gleristone Santos/ Justin Lawrence/ Lorenzo Hood/ Tony Johnson Jr/ Melvin Guillard/ Chase Gormley/ Phil Davis/ Melvin Manhoef/ Josh Koscheck/ Aaron Pico/ Ed Ruth, etc..

    Also re- signed Paul Daley/ Bobby Lashley/ Liam McGeary/ Daniel Weichel/ King Mo, etc.. Plus they’ve gotten record ratings under Coker.

    One thing I don’t get is why they had a press release for signing Chase Gormley and not having press release on their record ratings.

    What a disaster the Reebok Kit reveal was. The Reebok deal is very bad for fighters and really good for the UFC/ Reebok. Wouldn’t you agree Jason?

    I have no problem with Mendes replacing Aldo instead of Edgar bc Mendes vs McGregor is the better and bigger fight. Hbu?

      1. The reason why I mentioned these fighters Bellator signed or re- signed. Is bc you say there’s not much change with Scott Coker. I disagree. And the ratings have gotten better. Some things are still bad with Bellator. But I think we should give Scott Coker till the rest of the yr. Then it will have been 18 months he’s been president of Bellator. Another thing is the tent poles feel like a big event. He’s the one that created that.

        1. In terms of ratings, key in my book is to increase the ratings of non-tent pole events. For the most part, they get same ratings as previous regime. I agree, tent pole shows are events and MMA needs more events as opposed to just fight cards. Personally, I feel for Bellator to make a game changing type move, they need to make base pay for TV fighter $10,000/$10,000 and do $50,000 fight night bonuses. Yes, it would mean Viacom would need to put a lot more money into the company, but that would be a game changing move by them.

        2. Hopefully they do that esp now with the Reebok deal going into effect next week. They’d get a lot more big free agents to jump ship if they do bonuses.

        3. Reebok deal may get a small number of guys to consider it, but sponsorship pay is not what people think it is in Bellator. Been working on a story for the past month on this. Hope to publish soon.

        4. Idk why ppl keep comparing UFC and Bellator. Bellator isn’t at UFC’s level. Regardless of what Kevin Kay or Scott Coker think. And they don’t make 100’s of millions of dollars like UFC does. Some Bellator cards are jokes. They’re terrible cards. Most of UFC cards are stacked. Ya they’re some bad ones sometimes. Strikeforce had great fighters and events. And the former Strikeforce fighters are proving that in the UFC. They are some Bellator fighters doing well in the UFC as well, but none have become UFC champ. I think that will change soon.

        5. Oh ya Bellator also just signed Tachi Palace champ. So since Scott Coker has took over they’ve signed 12 notable fighters that I can think of. And re- signed 5. But so far only a couple have had fights with them. I wonder what’s taking so long to book these guys.

    Should the UFC advice fighters not to make political statements in their post fight interview? This was the biggest win in Romeros career and nobody talked about the actual fight afterwards.

    Have you ordered you Giblert Melendez fight kit yet?

    Does the health of the fighters need to become a bigger priority for commissions like the NSAC? Sure seemed like the potential revenue was more important to them than Aldos health.

    Do you know anything about WSOF 23? There are some rumors/reports out there that they will go head to head with the Bellator Dynamite show.

  6. It’s Bellator 140, not 139 July 17th. UFC 189 is still a great card even without Aldo on it.

  7. Do you think UFC or Bellator should sign Kharitonov no matter how much he’s asking bc he’s a top hw? Idk how much he’s asking, but if it’s 100k per fight or 120k I think he’d be worth it. Hbu?

    2. Fight Matrix has Sergei Kharitonov as the #22 heavyweight in the world right now. He would be a quality addition to either UFC or Bellator heavyweight division. However, you are only worth what someone is willing to pay you. In terms of the money you mention, you have to be a fighter that moves the needle to get that type of number, especially in Bellator. As I recall, it has been speculated that Phil Davis is making $70/$70 for his first Bellator fight. Kharitonov is known by the hardcore fans, but does not move the needle in term of getting casual fans to tune into his fights. If someone is willing to offer $50/$50 for his services in the United States, he should jump on the offer. However, I have my doubts on if any promotion is willing to start him off at that kind of salary.

      In terms of Koscheck, I have heard the rumors on his deal. Obviously, the matchup with Paul Daley makes a lot of sense in terms of getting eye balls on the Bellator product. Question has to be this. If Daley defeats Dennis Olson in two weeks, would he pass up a title shot to fight Koscheck?

      1. John Morgan said Phil Davis will make 65k/65k in Bellator per fight. And after Daley’s fight at 140 isn’t he supposed to be on the Bellator Dynamite event? Or they might give him the title shot. I think Koscheck needs to fight a couple of notable cans then rematch Daley. They need to build Koscheck back with having him fight a few cans. Wouldn’t you agree?

        1. If Bellator offers him 40k/40k or 45k/45k he should take it. Cause I doubt anyone else will pay more than that for him. Maybe ONE might.

        2. Yes, Daley is scheduled to be on the kickboxing portion of the September 19th show. Would make sense to build up Koscheck, but I think they will “strike while the iron is hot” and book Koscheck vs. Daley II following Bellator 140.

        3. Then who gets next title shot in your opinion? I think Bellator should try to sign Kharitonov and Karlos Vemola. But only at the right price.

        4. If they book Daley/Koscheck, depends what happens on the next show with all of the welterweight bouts on that card.

        5. IMO, Chris Honeycutt and MVP aren’t ready yet. Maybe Ward might be next if Bellator does Koscheck/ Daley. I don’t think they will tho.
