Bellator will be heading to the state of Texas for the first time since 2012 next month as Bellator 143 will come from the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo and the event will be headlined by a bantamweight bout as Joe Warren faces L.C. Davis.
Along with announcing the main event for the fight card today, Bellator announced the co-main event will be a middleweight bout between Joey Beltran and Kendall Grove.
Tickets for Bellator 143: Warren vs. Davis will go on sale this Friday, August 14 at Ticketmaster.com and the State Farm Arena box office, with a special Bellator Nation presale available on the 12th and 13th for fans using the code: Bellator.
Warren (12-4) lost the Bellator bantamweight title back in March when he was submitted by Marcos Galvao. The defeat snapped a five fight winning streak and it was his second career defeat by submission. Davis (23-6) made his Bellator debut last year and has gone 3-0 in the promotion. His most recent win came on the same night that Warren lost the bantamweight title as he defeated Hideo Tokoro in a Fight of the Year candidate.
Beltran (16-11, 1NC) dropped down to the middleweight division earlier this year and defeated Brian Rogers by majority decision at Bellator 136. Since coming back to Bellator, he is 2-2 and the other win came against Vladimir Matyushenko. Grove (21-15, 1NC) lost to Brandon Halsey in May and he is 3-2 in his last five fights. He is 2-2 in Bellator and holds a victory against former Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu.
“Mixed martial arts has a rich history in the state of Texas and Bellator looks forward to returning to the Lone Star State for the first time since 2012 with a stacked card in tow,” Bellator MMA President Scott Coker said. “Joe Warren has been itching to get back in action and return to the 135-pound title chase, while L.C. Davis has momentum on his side since his ‘Fight of the Year’ caliber matchup against Hideo Tokoro in March. I’m truly looking forward to it.”
