Next Saturday’s Titan FC 35 card will feature an intriguing prospect in the flyweight division as Sid Bice will be looking to remain undefeated when he meets Shaine Jaime.
When Bice (4-0) steps into the Titan cage in eight days, it will mark 421 days (1 year, 1 month, and 25 days) since his last fight, which was a decision victory at RFA 16 against Eric Shelton.
So why has Bice been out of action over the last year?
“It has been a couple of things. Being a 25’er, it’s just hard for me to find fights anyway,” Bice told The MMA Report. “I was actually supposed to fight for Titan when they had their card in Alabama. Five weeks out from the fight, I ended up hurting my knee. I had a level two tear on my LCL and I had to pull out of the fight, which I was bummed about because we had a couple of guys on the card. I was bummed and excited for that card. I had to pull out. I got over that injury. My knee is feeling back to 100 percent and I am ready to get this next W.”
Being out of action for the last year could cause an athlete to think about the negative part of being on the sidelines. However, Bice is positive about it. He has been able to improve on every aspect of his mixed martial arts game and plans to show off all of his new skills next weekend at Titan FC 35.
His opponent next Saturday night will be a fighter with a strong wrestling base in Jaime. He was actually one of the coaches for Team Tate during The Ultimate Fighter 18, but Bice admitted that he has struggled to find footage of Jaime’s MMA fights.
“I have tried to do some research on him and I can not find any of his fights,” he explained. “I know that he is a well-rounded wrestler, but then again, I get to train with Joe Warren everyday. There is no wrestler that is better than him in MMA. I do not think I have any disadvantage as well. I think my wrestling is just as good and I know my standup is going to be better. I am excited for this fight. I am excited to show off my talents and even though I have not fought in a year, I’ve had a long time to get better at my overall game. I’m excited to show everyone what I can do.”
While Bice’s last two victories have come by decision, he is always going to be looking for the finish. This is what he plans to do next Saturday night at Titan FC 35 and wants to put on a fight that fans are going to enjoy.
“I am always looking for the finish. Out of all my fights, I think I have only had two go the distance. I am always going for the finish. I do not care if it’s a knockout or submission. It really does not matter to me. I want to finish the guy. I want to be exciting and I want to be a crowd pleaser. I want to make fans want to watch me and look me up.”
