The suspension and fine was handed down today during the monthly Nevada Athletic Commission hearing.

After a lengthy hearing (over three hours), Nevada State Athletic Commissioner Pat Lundvall filed a motion for a lifetime ban and a fine of 33 percent of his purse from the January fight card. Commissioner Skip Avansino and Anthony Marnell would state they were not comfortable with a lifetime ban for Diaz.

After deliberating for several minutes, Lundvall filed a new motion and called for Diaz to have a five year suspension, along with a 33 percent fine of his purse. The motion would be seconded by Marnell and was passed by Chairman Francsico Aguilar.

Following the ruling by the Nevada Athletic Commission, Diaz talked to the media and check out what he said courtesy of MMA Junkie.
