Former UFC lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone is coming off a win at welterweight and he is remaining in the 170 pound division as he will meet Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 89 in Ottawa.
The fight booking was made official by the UFC on Saturday.
UFC Fight Night 89 will take place on June 18 from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at a venue to be determined and the event will be headlined by a welterweight bout as former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald meets Stephen Thompson.
Cerrone (29-7, 1NC) is coming off a submission win against Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 83 in a welterweight bout. He has won nine of his last ten fights and six of those wins have come by stoppage. Cote (23-9) will enter this fight on a three fight winning streak and he has won six of his eight fights since returning to the UFC. His most recent win came in January as he defeated Ben Saunders by TKO at UFC Fight Night 81.
