Heavyweight Matt Mitrione is heading to Bellator as he announced on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” that he has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.
“After a lovely free agency period, I have decided that I am going to go to Bellator,” Mitrione said on The MMA Hour. “I was really interested in the options that Bellator was offering. I was really interested in the conversation that they were willing to have. I think they are making the right moves.”
Mitrione (9-5) recently had his contract with the UFC expire following his lost to Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 81. Currently, Mitrione is seeking to get the result of the fight overturned to a no-contest due to multiple fouls in the fights. Prior to the fight against Browne, he lost to Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 68 and that defeat snapped a three fight winning streak.
The Bellator debut of Mitrione is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
