UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had to pull out of his UFC 197 title defense against former UFC champion Jon Jones due to a leg injury and following the news of being out of the fight, Cormier offered his services to Ovince Saint Preux for his fight against Jones.
Saint Preux ended up turning down the offer and during his appearance on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight on FS1, Cormier explained why he offered to help Saint Preux prepare for his fight against Jones in two weeks at UFC 197.
“It’s an offer you don’t anticipate people taking,” Cormier stated. But by putting it out there, it says: ‘anyone but Jon.’ The enemy of my friend is my friend. I’d help anybody but Jones.”
Check out Cormier’s complete interview from UFC Tonight below, which he also talks about the injury and the decision to be pulled from the fight against Jones at UFC 197.
