Daniel Cormier out of UFC 197 main event due to an injury

The highly anticipated rematch between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will not be taking place at UFC 197 as Cormier is out of the fight with an injury.

The news of Cormier being out of the event was initially reported by BJPenn.com and the UFC has not formally announced as of early Saturday morning that Cormier is out of the fight.

UFC 197 is set to take place on April 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and it’s unclear at this time if Jones will remain on the fight card or if the already scheduled flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo will be elevated to the main event of the fight card.
