Saturday’s Valor Fights 33 event in Tennessee will feature an amateur bout between fighters looking for their fourth career victories as David Robins will meet Jrammel Strong in a catchweight bout of 160 pounds.
Robins (3-1) enters this fight following back to back submission wins and his most recent win came at Valor Fights 31 in February as he defeated Ibrahim Komilov in a welterweight bout. During this past Thursday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Robins explained that this is a catchweight bout due to the fact that he is planning a move down to lightweight.
“I spar with guys that are pro 170 and they are just way bigger than me,” Robins stated on The MMA Report Podcast. “I feel like I am too small right now. I walk at like 75. Maybe 80 if I eat some Taco Bell or something. But I really don’t cut weight for 170. I kind of just wake up and I will sit in the sauna with my teammates that are cutting and that will drop the last two pounds or whatever I have to lose. I am not even cutting so at 55, I think it will be ideal.”
