Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante won the Titan FC lightweight title earlier this month and he will make his first title defense on August 5 against Freddy Assuncao in the main event of Titan FC 40.
The fight booking was confirmed to MMA Fighting on Thursday by Titan FC officials.
Titan FC 40 will come from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida and will be exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
Cavalcante (20-8-1, 2NC) defeated Pat Healy by knockout at Titan FC 39 and he has won three of his last four fights. Assuncao (9-1) is moving up to the lightweight division to face Cavalacante for the title and this will be his first fight since having ACL knee surgery last year.
