John Salter is hoping that a win over Brandon Halsey on Friday at Bellator 156 will lead to a title shot

Friday night’s Bellator 156 will see a key matchup in the middleweight division as John Salter will be looking for his fourth straight victory when he meets former Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey on the fight card coming from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Salter (11-3) won his Bellator debut last year against Dustin Jacoby by submission at Bellator 132 and this will be his first fight since that victory. With the current state of the Bellator middleweight division, the winner of this fight could be next for current champion Rafael Carvalho and Salter stated on Sunday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast” that he is hoping a win over Halsey will secure him a shot at the Bellator 185 pound title.

“That is what I hope for,” Salter said on The MMA Report Podcast if he feels a title shot is on the line Friday night against Halsey. “I have not talked to anybody about it. Whatever Bellator offers me after this, I will be happy to take it. But that is definitely what I would like to have happen. I would like to get a win here and then fight for the title.”
