Tomorrow’s UFC 201 fight card in Atlanta has seen a change as the flyweight bout between Justin Scoggins and Ian McCall has been pulled from the event following Scoggins pulling out of the event due to weight cutting issues.
With Scoggins vs. McCall off the fight card, the UFC has announced that the flyweight bout between Fredy Serrano and Ryan Benoit has been elevated from the Fight Pass prelims to the main card on pay-per-view.
UFC officials announced the change on late Thursday evening.
“Due to issues with his weight cut, flyweight contender Justin Scoggins informed UFC officials that he cannot make the contracted weight for his UFC 201 bout against Ian McCall on Saturday,” the UFC statement said. “Subsequently, the bout has been pulled from the card.”
Following the news of Scoggins being off the event, the American Top Team fighter talked to MMA Junkie about why he pulled out of tomorrow night’s fight card and stated that he is moving up to the bantamweight division.
For McCall, he will still weigh-in today at the official weigh-ins and will be an alternate fighter for the fight card according to the UFC. This would have been his first fight in eighteen months and just like Scoggins, he talked to MMA Junkie on Thursday evening and said he would love to get a fight on the UFC 202 card on August 20.
