A lightweight bout has been added to Unified MMA 29 in December as Ultimate Fighter alum Matt DesRoches will look for his second straight victory when he meets Mike Scarcello.
The fight booking was announced on Wednesday by Unified MMA.
Unified MMA 29 will come from The Royal Palace in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on December 16 and will be headlined by a rematch as Garret Nybakken defends the lightweight title against Aaron Bosiak.
DesRoches (5-1) is coming off a knockout victory against Gary Brown last year and all of his victories have come by stoppage in the opening round. The only defeat of his career came in 2014 at WSOF Canada 2 against Spencer Jebb and four of his five victories are by TKO/KO.
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity. Fights are hard to come by out east, so I’m definitely coming to Edmonton with my best foot forward,” says DesRoches. “I’d love to make a home for myself at Unified MMA — and the first step is to take out Mike Scarcello, which I’m really excited and prepared to do.”
Scarcello (8-3-1) has won five in a row and is coming off a submission win in June against Spencer Rohovie at Unified MMA 27. Five of his eight wins have come by stoppage and three of those victories are by submission.
“This is the toughest fight of my career, but it’s also the biggest opportunity. My opponent has a big name in the Canadian MMA world and he’s dangerous across the board,” says Scarcello. “This is going to really test my skills and show me where I’m at on the national and international levels.”
Tickets for Unified MMA 29 will go on sale October 14 at www.UnifiedMMA.com.
