UFC Fight Night 109 took place this past Sunday at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden and was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between former UFC title challengers as Alexander Gustafsson made his case for another title shot in the 205 pound division as he defeated Glover Teixeira by knockout in the fifth round.
When it comes to the television viewership for the fight card, the preliminary card on FS1 (11a-1p ET) came in with 353,000 viewers and the main card on FS1 (1-4p ET) drew 496,000 viewers according to Nielson. The peak viewership of the fight card came during the main event battle between Gustafsson and Teixeira with 665,000 viewers (3:30-3:45p ET) and the replay showing of the fight card on Sunday evening (midnight ET) drew an additional 128,000 viewers.
It should be noted that UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira did go up against the Indianapolis 500 on ABC (3.7/10) and last year’s May UFC Fight Night card on FS1 (656,000 viewers) did not go up against this race since that UFC Fight Night card took place on Mother’s Day.
The UFC will return to FS1 this weekend for coverage of UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. The television prelims for this event will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and calling the fights from Brazil will be Jon Anik, Brian Stann, and Dominick Cruz.
