When is LFA’s deal with AXS TV up? When it is up, do you think they will leave AXS TV and sign a bigger deal with Dazn? Also the promotions on Fight Pass might sign bigger deals with Dazn once their contract’s up.

What are your top 5 major MMA promotions and top 5 regional promotions?

Do you have Dazn, Fight Pass, or Espn+? If so how are they? Do they have any issues? Are they worth it?

According to a press release that AXS TV sent out late last year, LFA is signed through the end of 2018. Now this is the question you have to ask: What is the value of LFA to AXS TV and what would DAZN value you them at? Honestly, I would think that AXS would offer LFA a better deal than DAZN would. Promotions on Fight Pass could attempt to try to get Fight Pass and DAZN to bid against each other, but the question is if “X” promotions leaves Fight Pass for DAZN, is that going to cause a decent number of new subscriptions?

Top 5 Major MMA Promotions: UFC and Bellator are the clear top two. After that, have to consider PFL (based on money being paid out), Rizin, KSW, Invicta, ONE Championship, and Fight Nights Global. In terms of regional promotions, LFA is the clear number one. Others I would mention include Cage Warriors, CES MMA, Shamrock FC and CFFC.

As of right now, I only have a Fight Pass subscription. I will get a DAZN subscription and try it out for 30 days, but apparently there has been issues with DAZN in Canada based on tweets I have received. The next 2 weeks will be critical for DAZN in the United States. If the next two weeks go bad, not sure if they can recover. I am rooting for them, since this would be good for the combat sports industry.

Also can you see promotions like Bamma, CES, Rizin, Brave CF on Dazn? Or any other promotions who are streaming on Fight pass/ Fite/ Flo Combat?

    • Jason Floyd

BAMMA and RIZIN are already on FITE. I believe Brave has a deal with Flo Combat. CES MMA has a deal with AXS TV. As a consumer, it would be great to have more coverage on DAZN, but ultimately its about adding the right promotions that will drive monthly subscriptions.

I would love to see Shamrock FC on AXS TV. I was surprised when they announced the deal with Flo Combat and not AXS TV. I hope they add more promotions soon.

Which fights would you rather have seen Bellator make: Machida vs Shlemenko? Machida vs Mo Lawal? Shlemenko vs Mo Lawal? Shlemenko vs Carvalho? Mo Lawal vs Carvalho?

Or do you think they got the right matchmaking for those fighters?

I rather have seen these fights. Machida vs Mo Lawal/ Shlemenko vs Carvalho/ McGeary vs Young. But I’m also fine with the fights they announced.

Do you know any upcoming free agents to be in MMA?

Fights you are looking forward to the most between now and the end of the year?

      • Jason Floyd

Fights that I am looking forward to between now and the end of the year: Conor/Khabib, Poirier/Diaz, Rory/Mousasi, Pico/Higo, and Pitbull/Sanchez.

In terms of upcoming free agents, can’t think of any big names right now, but I will see what I can find out.

I was somewhat surprised when Shamrock FC signed with Flo Combat. But you have to remember that you have to take the best deal for your promotion. An example of this is who holds the rights over the video library.

I was somewhat surprised in the Shlemenko fight booking, but I think Bellator is trying to set up some of these fighters for fights in 2019 on DAZN.

Top 5 American based MMA promotions? Top 5 international MMA based promotions?

    • Jason Floyd

Top 5 American based MMA promotions? Top 4 is clear to me: UFC, Bellator, LFA, PFL. The fifth spot would probably be CES or Shamrock.

Top 5 international MMA based promotions? ONE, RIZIN, Cage Warriors, M-1 and probably ACB, but clearly there are some financial concerns there with the canceled events.

You don’t have Invicta, Fight Nights, and KSW in your top 5?

      • Jason Floyd

Invicta would be right there for the 5th spot consideration with CES and Shamrock. Honestly, KSW completely slipped my mind. I would put them in top 5.
