Robbie Lawler has now won back to back fights since returning to the UFC as he defeated Bobby Voelker by knockout in the second round on Saturday night at UFC on FOX 8.
The action opened with the fighters meeting in the center of the cage and Lawler began to throw heavy punches. Voelker was able to dodge the punches and Lawler was able to take the fight to the ground.
Voelker was able to get back to his feet and they clinched against the fence. Lawler was able to land a pair of knees and opened up a cut over the left eye of Voelker. They would separate and Lawler continued to land his punches but Voelker came forward.
Lawler began to mix up his strikes by throwing a head kick and followed it up with a jumping knee. Voelker would land a kick to the body but Lawler came forward and landed several punches before the round came to an end.
As the second round opened, Lawler threw a head kick that landed and dropped Voelker. As Lawler was coming in for another punch, referee Dan Miragliotta rushed in to stop the fight.
Lawler (21-9, 1NC) has won back to back fights in the UFC as a welterweight and he proved that he is someone to look out for in the UFC welterweight division.
