Jessica Eye’s split decision win over Sarah Kaufmann at UFC 166 in Houston on October 19th has been overturned due to Eye testing positive for a prohibited drug.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Eye has been assessed an administrative penalty of $1,875 and will be on a “one year fully probated suspension.”
Eye initially defeated Kaufmann by split decision, but several media members felt that Kaufmann won the fight.
According to Ben Fowlkes of MMAJunkie.com, a representative of the TDLE told him that Eye is “on probation as long as she complies” and can fight right now.
Following the news of the TDLE announcing the positive drug test for Eye, the UFC fighter released a statement on Twitter.
I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT SUSPEND and WILL BE FIGHTING FEB 22 as scheduled !! @UFC don’t believe everything you read online !
