A lightweight bout has been added to the UFC 173 card in Las Vegas on May 24th as Yves Edwards will meet Piotr Hallmann.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Monday and it will be placed on the preliminary card.
UFC 173 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 24th and will be headlined by Chris Weidman defending the UFC middleweight title against Lyoto Machida.
Edwards (42-20-1, 1NC) is winless in his last three fights and is coming off a no contest against Yancy Medeiros at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 in November. He originally was defeated by Medeiros, but the bout was overturned by the Kentucky commission when Medeiros tested positive for a banned substance in his post fight drug test.
Hallmann (14-2) was signed by the UFC last year and won his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 28 against Francisco Trinaldo by submission. It was his tenth straight victory and six of those wins were by submission. His winning streak would be snapped at UFC Fight Night 30 against Al Iaquinta as he was defeated by unanimous decision.
