UFC Fight Night 49 adds Alves-Mein and Niinimaki-Skelly

The UFC Fight Night 49 card on August 23rd in Tulsa, Oklahoma has added two fights to the card as Thiago Alves meets Jordan Mein in a welterweight bout and Tom Niinimaki faces Chas Skelly in a featherweight bout.

Both fight bookings were announced by UFC officials on Wednesday evening.

UFC Fight Night 49 will come from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and ticket information is expected to be announced by the UFC in the coming weeks.

Alves (20-9) returned to the UFC in April after being away thirteen months due to injuries and defeated Seth Baczynski by unanimous decision in the Fight of the Night. He has won two of his last three fights and his last two fights have made it to the third round. Mein (28-9) has won two of his three fights in the UFC and his only lost in the promotion came against top title contender Matt Brown. His most recent appearance in the octagon came in April as he defeated Herman Perpetuo by split decision.

Niinimaki (21-6-1) made his UFC debut last year and defeated Rani Yahya by split decision at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. The win over Yahya was his twelfth straight victory and his winning streak was snapped at UFC Fight Night 41 as he was submitted by Niklas Backstrom. Skelly (11-1) is a former Bellator fighter and lost his UFC debut in April by majority decision against Mirsad Bektic. Before entering the UFC, eight of his wins had come by stoppage with six of those wins coming by submission.
