The UFC has officially announced two welterweight bouts for UFC Fight Night 51 on September 13th in Brazil as Igor Araujo meets George Sullivan and Paulo Thiago faces Mike Rhodes.
UFC officials announced the fights on Sunday evening.
UFC Fight Night 51 is expected to come from the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasila, Brazil and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout as Andrei Arlovski meets Antonio Silva.
Araujo (25-6, 1NC) has won six fights in a row and his last two wins have come in the UFC by decision. His most recent win came in March as he defeated Danny Mitchell at UFC Fight Night 37. Sullivan (15-3, 1NC) made his debut in January at UFC on FOX 10 and defeated Rhodes by unanimous decision. The victory over Rhodes was his seventh straight victory and four of those wins have come by TKO.
Thiago (15-7) has dropped back to back fights and six of his last eight. He is coming off a decision defeat at The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale against Gasan Umalatov and his last win took place last year at UFC on FX 8 against Michel Prazeres. Rhodes (6-3) has also lost back to back fights and both of those defeats have come by unanimous decision. Four of his six wins have come by stoppage and three have come by TKO/KO.
